Hi, my Trados 2011 is not working, I always get error messages, and maybe I'll have to reinstall it. In the meantime, how can I work on sdlxliff files? I see that, for example, Wordfast and CafeTran can open them, but then can I save them back in sdlxliff format? Thank you!

Most tools on the market export sdlxliff directly, provided the source file is also in that format.

Using CafeTran, but no track changes

Thank you, now I'm working on CafeTran and it's working well with sdlxliff files, but there's no way to track changes in a review... Is there another cat tool which makes track changes possible? Thank you!

Apart from OmegaT and Virtaal, I know of no CAT tool that can edit an SDLXLIFF file directly (which would be necessary for tracked changes), and neither OmegaT nor Virtaal have sufficiently complex SDLXLIFF filters so as to offer tracked changes inside the SDLXLIFF file. So, no: only Trados can do tracked changes in SDLXLIFF files.

For tools that don't support Track changes, you can produce a quick comparison report in TQAuditor: https://cloud.tqauditor.com/quick/upload if the agency/client is OK with that.

I proofread SDLXLIFF files on a regular basis

using Fluency Now. I usually receive an SDL Package. I enable the Track Changes feature. However, while correcting the target text, the changes are not saved to the TM. You can see them in the bilingual SDLXLIFF file. The options, when saving to the TM, are either to save without accepting the changes or to accept them and save the TM. I deliver an SDL Return Package thereafter.
