Hi,

I cannot open a TMX file converted from SDLTM using SDL Trados Studio 2011 or TradosStudioResourceConverter. Here is the error message I'm getting:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/20q2dnstjc0ul45/omegatmx.png?dl=0

Has anyone encountered this?

error message? Feb 20, 2019

I'm no expert, but that sounds like a Dropbox file identification, not an error message.

However, if nobody answers you here who knows more than I do, ask the OMEGAT group on yahoo. There is much more traffic there:

I assume you've read the relevant HowTo on the OmegaT site:

// Glad you fixed it!
Out of curiosity, I put your "error message" into my browser and discovered that what you wrote is indeed not the error message, or at least not all of it. The part AFTER that in the dialog box is (javaXMLstream etc.)
For future reference.

parsing error / invalid characters Feb 20, 2019

This happens a lot with TMXs generated by Studio, they often won't open in OmegaT, Heartsome TMX editor, Olifant TMX editor, etc. This is because they contain invalid characters, in your case: &#

Solutions:

1. open in a good text editor and find ‘&#’ and delete it, this ought to fix it
2. open the TMX in CafeTran, which can automatically clean any invalid characters (which a VERY handy feature)

Michael

There are Okapi and other plug-ins for OmegaT that can probably do this too, but I am not sufficiently familiar with them to advise you. I suggest you ask on the yahoo site, as I mentioned.

Thanks everybody for your input. I was able to fix it using XML Character Fixing option in Okapi Rainbow.
