brigade or battalion Explanation: CONTEXT, please! Are we talking about WW2 and the partisans, (because in that case it's probably "brigade"), or is this about SFOR (in which case, I would go with "battalion"). Although the two terms are quite similar in meaning, generally, the battalion is more organised and has greater manpower (typically consisting of a headquarters company and four infantry companies or a headquarters battery and four artillery batteries, according to Webster's University Dictionary), while a brigade consists of two or more regiments and it can also denote simply a group of persons organised for a specific purpose. |

brigade or battalion Explanation: CONTEXT, please! if we're talking about WW2 and the partisans, then it's brigade, but if this is about SFOR, then I'd go with battalion. Although the two words are quite similar in meaning, generally a battalion has more components (e.g. a headquarters company and four infantry companies or a headquarters batter and four artillery batteries) and more manpower, while a brigade is usually made up of two or more regiments and can denote simply a group of persons organised for a specific purpose. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2003-10-15 13:39:31 (GMT) -------------------------------------------------- OOOOOPS! sorry about that, I thought the first time it didn\'t work...
