culture Explanation: Usually "bacterial culture" is used to refer to strains of bacteria grown for yoghurt making etc. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 14 hrs 45 mins (2004-11-17 08:44:45 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- As Martin notes, this could be a UK/US thing. We used to make homemade Yoghurt and we bought \"cultures\" to start them off not strains. However, if I were referring to medicinal work on bacteria and had to refer to individual samples with differences I would indeed refer to them as strains. |
