The conductor was not responding to cries of "encore", but rather had already prepared his curtain call and got the orchestra off immediately afterwards. Perhaps leaving the audience feeling slightly disatisfied? (Certainly the reviewer seems to hint that, reading between the lines). |

token Explanation: Berni's definitely got the gist of it. I was thinking you might be able to construct something out of "token", as in "offered the token encore": something mandatory according to standard procedure. "Preu fet" has a meaning somewhat related to "package deal", as in, "this is what you get, no more no less, for this price". I find its use in this context extemely clever. Good luck. |
