describe it Explanation: I suggest you don't try to translate but describe it, e.g. traditional Mallorcan/Balearic fishing boat, depending on how much the reader might know about boats |

Catalonian barge / barge master Explanation: This seems to be what they're called in English. I used to live in Tortosa. People, cars, etc. still cross the River Ebro on barges. http://la-liga.eu/video/hHPTNDjMQKM https://www.google.es/search?q=llaüt catalan barge&espv=2&bi... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 8 hrs (2015-02-24 22:03:38 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- 'Barge' comes to mind because in your extra context it says the boats were pulled by mules. Nowadays the barges that cross the river at Miravet are moved with the help of ropes and a punter. When the river is too high, there's no service and you have to cross the river by bridge at Tortosa or Mora d'Ebre. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 day4 hrs (2015-02-25 18:46:40 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- 05 Deltebre y los arrozales En Deltebre se halla el centro de información y Ecomuseo (977 48 96 79) donde se explican los diferentes ecosistemas del Delta, con representación en vivo de huertas, lagunas, arrozales y bosque de ribera. On page 19 you can read an explanation about the different kinds of llaüts El nombre La palabra llagut o llaüt crea cierta confusión porque se usa por designar naves muy diferentes. |
