groep met niveau 2 (bij in totaal 8 niveaus) Explanation: Seems to me an option. ...the class was “set 2 of 8,” a class of uniform ability formed as a result of standardised testing in the previous school year... Being in a lower set often results in pupils believing that they are no good at maths, having access only to a restricted curriculum, and being separated from their peers involved in higher-order thinking (exposure to which, can really bring on lower attaining children). Ability setting in schools does not occur in Shanghai, Singapore or many other high performing jurisdictions. All-attainment grouping lends itself well to joint-planning. In a setted school, the teacher that teaches set 2 of 8 may be following the same curriculum as other sets (or may not be) but very probably at a different pace, or in a different order, making collaborative discussion more difficult and joint planning impossible. https://www.ncetm.org.uk/resources/49959 Mixed ability vs ability grouping in the primary school classroom: Where do you stand? To set or not to set at primary school? What is the basis for setting or grouping by ability? It was originally thought that this would be the best way to teach children. You can provide lessons to ensure you are challenging higher attainers with higher level teaching. The lower ability learners can slow down to the pace they may need to catch up and grasp the basic concepts they may be lacking. When used well that is certainly the case within a lesson. There is overwhelming evidence, however, which points to some more worrying conclusions about setting. In a later school I taught a low ability Maths set consisting of Year 5 and 6. Part of the problem with setting in the old curriculum was the focus on linear progress. Although children like those in my bottom set would never get a level 4 in Year 6, https://www.thirdspacelearning.com/blog/2016/mixed-ability-g... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2017-02-19 17:25:38 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- ...the class was “set 2 of 8,” a class of uniform ability formed as a result of standardised testing in the previous school year... ...de klas was niveaugroep 2 van [in totaal] 8 [niveaugroepen], een klas met leerlingen van hetzelfde niveau die was samengesteld door middel van een gestandaardiseerde toetsing in het voorafgaande schooljaar... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2017-02-19 17:48:38 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Interesting: Setting by ability - or is it? A quantitative study of determinants of set placement in English secondary schools Background: Grouping students into classes by ability on a subject-by-subject basis, also known as setting, is a common practice in many educational systems. http://eprints.soton.ac.uk/173595/ -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2017-02-19 18:02:27 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- ability grouping (redirected from Setting (education)) ability grouping 1. The practice of placing students with others with comparable skills or needs, as in classes or in groups within a class. Also called: tracking 1. The placing of students in any of several courses of study according to ability, achievement, or needs. Also called ability grouping. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Setting (education) Ability grouping Tracking is separating pupils by academic ability into groups for all subjects[1] or certain classes and curriculum[2] within a school.[1][2] It may be referred as streaming or phasing in certain schools. In a tracking system, the entire school population is assigned to classes according to whether the students' overall achievement is above average, normal, or below average. Students attend academic classes only with students whose overall academic achievement is the same as their own. http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Setting (education... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tracking_(education) |
