Not sure at all, the only reference I can find happens to be about chocolate eggs. Are you talking about chocolate eggs? Is this Australisch Engels?

Explanation:
It is called outer in English as well. It is the external packaging - whatever the internal unit might be. You might have a pallet of "trays" each containing eggs being shipped and they might be shrink wrapped together for transportation purposes. The main point you are probably being required to translate will probably be that the egg outer has to be labelled with certain information.

We Dutch to English translators still get to know about original Dutch words. I would say the closest Dutch equivalent for an "outer" is "omhulsel". I hope this helps.
