Explanation:
Il s'agit d'une forêt dont on a coupé la grande majorité des arbres. Il reste quand même énormément de substances nutritives (nutrients) dans le sol, ce qui est excellent pour les fermiers.

Les coupes d'éclaircie sont parfois désignées comme "coupes de dépressage" et sont en anglais les "thinning operations".
