Мне кажется, для авторов текста английский язык не является родным, поэтому таким корявым текстом они хотели сказать, что метан, образующийся в рубце жвачных, выделяется при отрыжке в атмосферу.

Если авторы - голландцы, то в голландском языке рот - "bek". Наверное, при переводе они спутали с английским "beak", который в данном случае совершенно не подходит по смыслу.

  -> Спасибо! Действительно, слово "burbed out" тоже выглядит здесь как-то странно. После Вашего пояснения очевидно, что авторы неудачно перевели с голландского на английский, отсюда и появились эти "beak" и "burbed out".
