English term or phrase: Labor army
The Crimean Tatar people were one of the many groups of people who were deported by that regime in May 1944, from Crimea to Central Asia and northern Russia. During the first years of NKVD surveillance, canceled only in 1956, the nation lost about half of its population. That was mainly children, women, and old men, including Crimean Tatar soldiers who had fought against Nazi Germany and worked in the labor army.
There are plenty of bright and patriotic individuals in the history of the national struggle for the return of the Crimean Tatars to their homeland.

neutral  Rosa Paredes: Thanks for including the link, I was not familiar with the term "labor army". Is columnas laborales your own translation?

-> I just literally translated based on the link I provided. Still, I wasn’t sure how the phrase would fall on the ears of fluent Spanish speakers.

Trabajo forzado

Explanation:
Hola Guillermo, pienso que se trata de un error (?)
"Like the other deported peoples, the Crimean Tatars were placed under the regime of special settlements. Many of those deported performed forced labor: their tasks included working in coal mines and construction battalions, under the supervision of the NKVD. Deserters were executed." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deportation_of_the_Crimean_Tat...
Saludos!

I realize it is not a mistake thanks to the other answer proposed. Given the characteristics of the 'labor army', it was indeed 'trabajo forzado'.

labor army
Ejército obrero

Explanation:
Refiere al Ejército Rojo de Obreros y Campesinos, que fue la denominación oficial del ejército y la fuerza aérea de la República Socialista Federativa Soviética de Rusia y, después de 1922, de la Unión Soviética. Fueron los regimientos del Ejército Rojo transferidos de la actividad militar a la actividad obrera. Es por eso que no podemos dejar de lado el término "army" como "ejército" y debería incluirse en la traducción.
