both actively and passively Explanation: By choosing to do things and by choosing not to do things. An investment is doing well -- leave the money where it is. (Passive -- no action taken.) An investment is doing badly -- move the money. (Active -- action taken.) By doing things and by not doing things. "by choosing to take action and by choosing not to take action" is the only way I can put it in the right register in a different way. HTH. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 41 mins (2021-04-24 12:28:22 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- You see "gérer" > manage is more active, whereas "administrer" is more passive (unless it involves running a company of course), hence perhaps the need to stress the active and passive elements of the power of attorney.
