disagree  D. I. Verrelli: "refrigerant" is a chemical (same as "coolant"), "refrigerator" is a machine/device; these things are not equivalent. In fact, the link you provided indicates use of "refrigerant", not "refrigerator"

  -> yes, refrigerant can be used too but in my experience coolant is the term mainly used

agree  D. I. Verrelli: "refrigerant" and "coolant" are v. similar; "refrigerant" is unlikely to be used _above_ ~10°C (but cooling can occur at any temperature). Using "of the" is literally correct, but somewhat stilted: more natural may be "in the" or a noun phrase.
