There are some links with Frisian and Scandinavian languages which often provide some interesting hints for translations in these fields.......

I know that 'row level' is the ordinary definition, and thanks to Clare for the references, but I was looking to see it this term might be used also in a different way. I don't know where the native Frisian speaker 'TransAction' got this translation "calculation capacity/speed" but in my particular context, that is what I was looking for.

Thanks to everyone for their imput. Charles

'row-level locking' is a term used in relation to CPU's. Could this be it?

Explanation:
Not for points - if you think it's right give them to Diarmuid. Just wanted the space to put in the refs:
http://www.digi.no/php/art.php?id=62642
has "låsing på rekkenivå"
and this one
http://linas.org/linux/db.html
has "row level locking" under the SQLFlex section.

Not a lot of googles out there for rekkenivå!
