Cooking / Culinary
Norwegian term or phrase: tyll
A recipe for "potetskorpe":

From what I can see, "tyll" here means a shaped vegetable cutter. But why couldn't I find any definitions or references to this term in Norwegian? Am I missing something here?

icing nozzle

Explanation:
It is like a piping bag nozzle used for icing etc.

Tulle is a lightweight, very fine netting, which is often starched.

I don't know how this tulle could be used to cut potatoes.

A potato ricer is primarily used for ricing potatoes for mashed potatoes, hash browns etc. You can also use a mouli or a masher.

agree  Pernille Chapman: I can easily picture using a nozzle for this, especially since the cut pieces will be only 18-20 mm across (so I assume you'd use the large, circular end of the nozzle).

smultringkutter

Explanation:
Potato ricer is certainly not right, and I cannot quite believe it is the nozzle either. The text states "stikker ut", so that suggests to me that it is like a "smultringkutter".

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks, Tina. The core of the problem here lies - in my humble opinion - in the source text. The client agrees that what is actually meant must be a (pastry) cutter for cutting the potato slices into rounds. Based on this, I think I'll close this question to avoid further discussion.
