Jeg tror ikke det finnes noe engelsk ord for kortspillet Amerikaner. Whist finnes i mange versjoner, og det er vel egentlig slik at Amerikaner er en versjon av Whist. Så beskrivelsen "A particular version of Whist which is popular in Norway" er vel kanskje noe av det beste jeg kan foreslå.

Amerikaner er svært lik versjonen "Call-ace whist". En ganske nøyaktig beskrivelse blir "Call-ace whist without jokers and solo play option".

"Call-ace whist" kalles også "Esmakker whist".
