I agree with Leif, that this is not really Norwegian, but I don't think it means 'skid' in this context. To me, skidding is something more accidental, rather than intentional as in this case.

  -> Well, I did not intend to shoot you down :) I guess slide would also be perfectly understood in this context, but as long as the source seems to have stolen skid directly from English, it might be appropriate here.
