Norwegian term or phrase: Overtagelse etter avtale
This is tacked onto the end of most property particulars, in this case a shop that is to let. What would we say in English?

English translation:Handover by agreement
Explanation:
Awkward term for a rent or lease, as overtagelse means transfer of title. Probably means at disposalfrom date to be agreed.

If it were an actual handover, that's what it would imply. In this case, it just looks like 'start of lease date to be agreed', as in not asap or immediately - but it COULD also mean that lease is not immediately vacant.

Asker: Thanks, that's what I got out of it too (availability to be discussed), but I'm wondering why they feel the need to say it at all. Does it imply that the property is/is not currently vacant?

(UK: letting or conveyance on sale) Completion as and when agreed

Explanation:
A lease in the UK is completed by payment of the agreed amount and, in the case of a conveyance on sale, by discharge of any outstdanding mortgages.

The handover may signify the date of vesting of land or start ('commencement') of the lease.

Example sentence(s):
  • Sometimes completion of a lease is conditional upon, for example, the landlord or tenant completing works to the building.
