Tech/Engineering - Construction / Civil Engineering / Bridge structural damage
Spanish term or phrase: daños de carácter durable
I'm translating a civil engineer's report on structural deterioration and damage to toll motorway bridges, with a 0-100 score-based classification of types of deterioration/damage. A score of 80-100 indicates a very good state of repair and "daños de carácter durable o funcional leve", 60-79 is "daños de carácter durable o funcional medios", 40-39 is "daños de carácter resistente leves o de carácter durable o funcional extendidos", etc

I'm not sure whether to translate "durable" as long-term, tolerable, bearable... any ideas or maybe civil engineering experts out there?

neutral  Robert Carter: I can see how "lasting damage" could apply to something less tangible, like a reputation or the economy, but how could it possibly apply to a bridge? Surely the damage lasts only as long as the repairs take?

structural damage

Explanation:
It seems to me it's related to structural damage as in "mild/medium/extended structural or functional damage". I mean, the structure is damaged but not as much as to compromise the strength (that's why there is a strength damage in your text "daños de caracter resistente")
