thermal town Explanation: villa SF 1 (=pueblo) small town wordref I was actually going to suggest 'spa town' then I googled 'thermal town' - which sounds strange to me - and found that there is an assocation: The European Association of Historic Thermal Towns (EHTTA) https://ehtta.eu/portal/the-european-route-of-historic-therm... My feeling is you could use either 'spa town' or 'thermal town' whichever you prefer, but maybe 'thermal town' is better if you are going to translate balneario as spa later on in the sentence. |

spa town Explanation: I've seen references to 'thermal town' but I believe those are mostly direct translations from other languages. The usual term would be 'spa town'. A 'villa' is a house in English but here the Spanish 'villa' describes a town - so that won't work. This British pilgrim describes Caldas de Reis as a spa town: "We set off from the fine city of Pontevedra at 8.50 am this morning to make our way to the spa town of Caldas de Reis, which we managed to reach before two o’clock this afternoon." https://lisasgift.org.uk/camino-portugues-day-10-pontevedra-... And so does this (British?) hiker: "Walking through fields of crops you eventually reach the pretty spa town of Caldas de Reis." https://www.outdooractive.com/en/route/hiking-trail/ponteved... Wikipedia: "A spa town is a resort town based on a mineral spa (a developed mineral spring)." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spa_town |
