That may be. Certainly glue is not always necessary and I did not mean to suggest that nails are not used in those cases where the boards are glued together. Indeed, they are always nailed down to the underlying surface in either case.

Notes to answerer
Asker: The description of tounge-in-groove panel is quite correct I believe though that in Sweden we more often nail these planks to the underlying surface rather without any glue.
