Source text - Polish Rok 2008 został ogłoszony przez Komisję Europejską Europejskim Rokiem Dialogu Międzykulturowego. Z tej okazji we wszystkich krajach członkowskich UE podejmowane były działania przybliżające idee dialogu międzykulturowego oraz promujące integrację i współdziałanie różnych grup kulturowych w celu zmierzenia się z wyzwaniami przekraczającymi narodowe i ideologiczne granice. Obchody Roku miały na celu m.in. poszanowanie różnorodności kulturowej, promocję równych szans dla wszystkich mieszkańców UE, walka z dyskryminacją, oraz budowanie partnerskich relacji z krajami Wspólnoty oraz sąsiadami.
Translation - English The European Commission declared the year 2008 to be the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue. On account of this, all EU member states undertook organised events whose objective was to bring closer the idea of intercultural dialogue and promote integration and cooperation of various cultural groups for the sake of facing the challenges exceeding national and ideological borders. The celebrations were aimed at respecting cultural diversity, promoting equal opportunities for all EU inhabitants, fighting discrimination and building partner relations among the Community states and their neighbours.
