Textus connectivus, tkanka łączna. Najbardziej zróżnicowana ze wszystkich tkanek. Wytwarza substancję międzykomórkową, budującą złącza, życiodajną. Pojedyncze włókna, luźno ułożone, osobne jak kreski Giacomettiego, nakładają się na grunt spoiwa, przez histologów nazywany istotą podstawową. To w niej zanurzone są komórki i włókna. Jest bezpostaciowa, wspólna dla wszystkich, wyłaniająca się u samego początku z mezenchymy, czyli tkanki łącznej zarodkowej, w której nie ma jeszcze włókien.
Translation - English Seen through the lens of a microscope it reminds of a map of a province with its dense texture of borderlines, rivers and roads interconnected by a weave of separate lines. Textus connectivus, connective tissue. The most diversified of all tissues. It produces the intercellular substance, a bond-building and life-giving substance. Single fibres, loosely arranged, separate like Giacometti's lines superimposed on the bond's primer, are called by histologists the ground substance. Immersed in it are cells and fibres. The tissue is amorphous, common to all organisms, emerging at the very beginning from mesenchyme, the still fibreless embryonic connective tissue.
