A multitude of logical communications protocols exist in computer networking. The most common are those that comprise the Internet Protocol Suite and enable the transfer of information between computers on the Internet and on intranets. IP (Internet Protocol), HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol), and FTP (File Transfer Protocol) are examples of the most popular protocols. IP is the primary method of transmitting data across networks. HTTP is the foundation of and primary method of transferring data across the World Wide Web. FTP is the standard method of transferring files between hosts. Computers will use either the TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) or UDP (User Datagram Protocol) protocol to transfer information between a server and remote clients on a network. Both protocols have their own unique benefits and are discussed below.

ABSTRACT
Adverse drug reactions are a leading cause of treatment failure with antiepileptic drugs. Adverse drug reactions are also a major source of morbidity and mortality, and a substantial burden on the use and costs of health care. Recent pharmacogenetic studies have shown that some adverse drug reactions are associated with genetic variants, which has changed how we select antiepileptic drugs for individual patients. This article, beginning with a case of an adverse drug reaction induced by carbamazepine, will answer four key questions about pharmacogenetics of adverse drug reactions: (1) What types of adverse drug reactions can be caused by antiepileptic drugs? (2) What is pharmacogenetics? (3) How does pharmacogenetics play a role in the adverse drug reactions of antiepileptic drugs? and (4) How do we apply pharmacogenetic testing in clinical practice? Our goal is to increase awareness of the contributions of genetic variation to adverse drug reactions of antiepileptic drugs.

Estudios farmacogenéticos recientes han demostrado que algunas reacciones adversas a los fármacos se asocian a variantes genéticas, lo cual ha cambiado el método de selección de medicamentos antiepilépticos para cada paciente. En este artículo, que comienza con el caso de una reacción adversa inducida por carbamazepina, se da respuesta a cuatro cuestiones fundamentales acerca de la farmacogenética de dichas reacciones: (1) ¿qué tipos de reacciones adversas pueden causar los medicamentos antiepilépticos?; (2) ¿qué es la farmacogenética?; (3) ¿qué papel desempeña la farmacogenética en las reacciones adversas a los medicamentos antiepilépticos?; y (4) ¿cómo se aplican las pruebas farmacogenéticas en la práctica clínica? The Naval Medical Research Center’s (NMRC) Wound Infections Department is exploring the use of bacteriophage as a therapeutic against Multidrug Resistant (MDR) bacterial wound infections.
The emergence of MDR skin and soft tissue infections has become a global problem for civilian and military populations alike, and in the warfighter, these infections are especially problematic when associated with traumatic/blast wounds.
“MDR wound infections often require extensive surgical debridement, which further removes tissue harboring the recalcitrant infection,” said Lt. James Regeimbal, a microbiologist in the NMRC Wound Infections Department. “Increasing the tissue loss in a severely wounded soldier can debilitate well beyond the damage of the original injury and new therapeutics are needed to improve the recovery and functionality of healing wounded warriors. It is vital to generate new therapeutics or reinvigorate older approaches to treating bacterial infections.”
Bacteriophage are viruses that specifically infect and kill bacteria, and have been investigated as a potential antibacterial therapeutic. NMRC’s phage working group purified five types of bacteriophage from waste-water in the Washington D.C. metro area that infect and kill MDR Acinetobacter baumannii.

El Departamento de Infección de Heridas del Centro Naval de Investigación Médica de Estados Unidos (NMRC, por sus siglas en inglés) está estudiando la utilización de un bacteriófago como agente terapéutico contra la infección de las heridas por bacterias multirresistentes (BMR).
La aparición de infecciones cutáneas y de tejidos blandos por BMR se ha convertido en un problema mundial tanto en las poblaciones civiles como en las militares, si bien entre las tropas estas infecciones resultan especialmente problemáticas cuando se asocian con heridas por explosión y traumatismos.
«La infección de heridas por BMR suele requerir un desbridamiento quirúrgico amplio, que obliga a retirar más cantidad de tejido en la zona de la infección recalcitrante», ha afirmado el teniente James Regeimbal, microbiólogo en el Departamento de Infección de Heridas del NMRC. «El aumento de la pérdida de tejido en un soldado herido de gravedad puede causar una debilidad mucho mayor que la provocada por la lesión original, por lo que se necesitan tratamientos nuevos para mejorar la recuperación y funcionalidad de los combatientes heridos en proceso de curación. Resulta fundamental crear tratamientos nuevos o volver a recurrir a modelos antiguos para tratar las infecciones bacterianas».
Se ha investigado el uso terapéutico de los bacteriófagos, virus que infectan específicamente a bacterias y las matan, como posible agente antibacteriano. El grupo de trabajo dedicado a los fagos del NMRC ha purificado cinco tipos de bacteriófagos procedentes de aguas residuales de la zona metropolitana de Washington D. C. que infectan y matan a la bacteria BMR Acinetobacter baumannii.

IoT appears poised to revolutionize every sector of the economy, creating new business models for every industry, and significantly altering how society and government function. In a June 2015 report, McKinsey Global Institute refers to "the transformative potential for many types of participants and stakeholders" of IoT.
