French term

en aval de

French to English Medical Medical (general) anatomy, cardiovascular
un guide est positionné en aval de l'artère interventriculaire antérieure distale

I know this normally means 'downstream of' but is that acceptable medical terminology?
Should it perhaps be 'below' or 'distal of'?

Thank you P.
agree Daryo : this being a case where there is a most literal stream (of blood) why would "downstream" be wrong?

Note from asker:
Thanks for your suggestions and comments. This sounds more authentically medical but could be ambiguous for the non-specialist and is a less literal rendering of the French, so I have chosen 'downstream'.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Tony M : Surely that really translates 'far end', cf. 'proximal' = 'near end', wheras here, it is not 'all the way to the end', but 'just past'?

disagree Daryo : I don't the point of using here "distal / proximal" which is more about the relative position of parts of the body, not direction of flow// + more important: a "downstream flow" could as well be going toward either distal or proximal parts ...
