With reference to the other questions:
Torcer = to support, to cheer for (UK), to root for (US)
Torcedor = supporter, fan
Torcida = supporters (in general)
(Torcedor roxo = a staunch supporter)
Prá qual time você torce? - Which team do you support?
Answer: Torço pelo Marília - I support Marília.

....eu diria, "what's your team?" = igual a "Qual seu time?"

O motivo de eu nao traduzir diretamente "pela vitória" e', simplesmente, que "cheered them on to victory" seria o equivalente a "os torceu, e eles ganaram"., que nAO cabe aqui.

"Cheered them on" ja quer dizer que "torcerem pela vitória" uma vez que, en ingles, nAO faria sentido dizer "cheered them on to lose".
