What is an unclean Trados file

For the first time, since I started using Trados 2011, one of my clients has asked me for 'unclean' Trados file.
What is an 'unclean' Trados file? What use is it to my customer? Is such a request normal in our industry?
Enlightenment most desired and welcome!

It's a file containing both source and target text. Probably the customer wants to edit your translation. This was a normal practice for me when working with translation agencies. One even asked for an uncleaned word file. This meant translating with Trados directly in Word.

The customer wants to edit the translation or wants to update his TM.
