All in all, business has remained more or less the same, but the road has been bumpier than ever: days with no work at all are followed by days when projects keep coming one after the other. You either are extremely busy or, well… | | | Kay Denney France Local time: 20:15 French to English
Things are going swimmingly. I thought there might be a bit of a lull because I had to refuse so many projects while working on a biggie that finished mid January, but not a bit of it. I'm still refusing work, and I'm trying to work a bit less this year because I might have to upgrade to a more complicated, tax-heavy status if I continue to earn this much.

I've noticed lower demand for translation per se, and more requests for revision/correction. And this is from direct, non-agency clients. I imagine it must be worse for colleagues relying on agency work. | | | A clear decrease | May 9, 2023 |
I haven't received much work in the latest months from long-standing clients, and most assignments are small. There aren't many new clients either (at least not as many as usual). Fortunately, my anchor client always has plenty of well-paid work without strict deadlines (yes, it's a dream client!), so I can easily fill up my schedule with their content alongside ramped up marketing and acquisition activities. | | | Tom in London United Kingdom Local time: 19:15 Member (2008) Italian to English A small increase | May 9, 2023 |

I've accepted more, but I may not have been offered more. But it goes up and down the whole time for all kinds of reasons. Very hard to draw any conclusions.

One of my regular clients told me, about two weeks ago, that their end client, a large US company, was pulling out of Turkey, so they'd no longer need Turkish translations. I had to double check my earnings for the first 4 months of last year, since I was convinced work was decreasing. Looks like I have earned a little bit more than last year so far, but I have the feeling that something has changed. I do not receive constant proposals/e-mails/heads-up like last year until December 22 (I was doing a 3-months review project + new work coming in, never earned so much in my life!). In my case the decrease is evident. Many wasted days and weeks with small jobs or no job at all. Not red alert yet, but closer than ever.
In my case, I have returned full-time to the Translation sector this year and am very surprised at the work flow I am receiving.
