All of them (LOL) Jun 2, 2023

I have a strong passion for my work, which is why I eagerly embrace new clients who are willing to offer fair compensation.

While I understand that my enthusiasm might seem unusual to some, translation is not only my profession but also a source of relaxation.

Knowing that there are ample tasks awaiting me brings me great satisfaction.

I always welcome new clients, but I don't need them so I can be very picky (meaning basically disregarding 100% of the job offers I receive through Proz).

If your weather forecast is like mine (approx. 250 km east of London), you'll get what you want from tomorrow

I lived in Italy for 20 years and the climate was fine, but the bureaucracy nearly killed me. Plus always being a "foreigner" ,and having people ask me 50 times a day where I was from, began to wear me down.

I lived in grey and cold Belgium for 20 years, so I do know what you’re talking about. Today, in Lisbon, I’m enjoying a sunny day with a mild temperature of 22 degrees (so far)…

I get this too! On the other hand, you can also get away with a lot by putting it on "cultural differences". I am now living in my native country and here I am just "weird"...

Could it be a sign of honesty - and of sincere interest?
Here people ask you, in other places they may just keep their thoughts under their hat.

Btw, in Italy you'd be asked where you come from even as a local, eg as an Italian from the north in southern Italy or vice versa and all in between.

Yes: once in Venice talking to the receptionist of a hotel I was asked "what part of Tuscany are you from?" (because I speak Italian with a slight Florentine accent)
