In the past, it was very easy to locate IP addresses of visitors to my profile by just clicking on the visitor's IP address directly. Nonetheless, I failed to locate the IP addresses today for some unknown reasons. Whenever I clicked on the IP address, a message box popped up, requesting me to type my user id and password for www.melissadata.com.

Shirley, I don't think this problem has anything to do with your PC. The same thing occurs to me. Only yesterday I could check where my visitor came from. Today I receive the same message as you do. Let's wait for other comments. Perhaps this is just a temporary problem...

it's probably yet another kiddy exploit: take a malware script, add some range of IP addresses, throw the finished monkey wrench into the net and see what happens.
I saw it happen elsewhere the last 48 hours.
In old times kids had to get the school ready on the Labour day weekend - now they have other things to do.

I have changed the IP lookup service we were using in profiles, in order to restore the feature.
Now it should be working.

Yeah, it works and there is more information than in the previous service, but I have found after a few tests that the number of ip location requests is limited. After 15-20 or so access is denied (not sure until when, though).

The new IP look up service is the same Geobytes.com which was changed by Henry to www.melissadata.com. after complaints from many prozians some weeks before.
Let us see how long does it work properly this time. As Narcis has said, the service of this site is also limited to showing the location of only a few IP addresses.
