I recently completed the preparation course for the Diploma in Translation at City University London (2012), and passed the DipTrans exam which I sat in January 2013, gaining a merit in the literary translation. I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, and an Associate Member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting.
I have been working freelance since 2006, writing and proofreading for an English-language family magazine and translating/proofreading for several agencies here in the UK. Since May 2012, I have been part of a team translating/transcreating marketing materials and websites, including gaming websites, ebook webshops and apps. I regularly translate corporate presentations and I have edited and proofread a variety of other business and financial texts, as well as publications in the field of education and pedagogy.
I am highly computer literate, versatile and adaptable, show great attention to detail, and am very reliable.
Background and other work experience:
I have a BA in European Studies (combining English, History and Law) from the University of Amsterdam. I graduated in 1991, after which I went to Brussels where I worked as a stagiaire at the DG Internal Market and Industrial Relations, as an assistant to the Trade Director for the European Association of Automobile Manufacturers and as a Research Assistant for the European Airline Pilots Association in Brussels.
I also completed a post-graduate course in journalism at the Erasmus University Rotterdam in 1994 and moved to London in 1996, where I became Editor of Air Traffic Management, a business-to-business magazine published by Euromoney Publications. I briefly worked as a production editor for the Shephard Press, a publisher of aviation and defence titles based here in Slough, where I live, before taking maternity leave and becoming a freelancer.
