With nearly a bilingual education in French and Spanish at elementary school, a...nd having lived in the USA, I always spoke an read those two languages together with my mother tongue, Spanish. Later on came Italian, a language I feel so close to my own culture, and a good approach to understand Art History and Building Restoration.
Five years ago, as I had less projects in my practice, I naturally came into Translation.
Since then I’ve studied, read, made many mistakes as a youngster does, but I can now say I feel pretty comfortable in this new occupation so, I’ve decided to definitely close my practice, having so little to do in nowadays Spain as an architect . As a perfectionist, I enjoy studying what I translate, investigating, and looking for the exact word, in this beautiful profession that builds bridges between different cultures.
Of course, I translate what I master: architecture, construction, civil engineering and history of art.

Kleemaier, B.A., B.Tr., C.T., (STIBC certified & NGTV associate), received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Victoria in Canada before accepting the Rotary Foundation ambassadorial scholarship to Heidelberg to study German history ...and politics. It was after his year in Germany that he first began to consider applied linguistics as a career option and received a bachelor of translation degree (EN/NL/DE) in 2000 from the Department of Translation and Interpreting of the Faculty of International Business and Communication at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences in Maastricht, the Netherlands. Over the next couple of years, he was sworn in at the District Court of Breda as a certified translator and worked in various translation positions throughout the Netherlands, including at The Hague.
In 2002, Robert and his wife, Nicole, took the step of moving their young family from the Netherlands to Canada where they began their own translation agency in the beautiful Okanagan Valley in the southern interior of British Columbia. Together, they have worked to translate, edit, and proofread several million words covering a wide range of texts. Over the years, their focus shifted to legal texts in general and Dutch notarial instruments in particular.
Today, Nicole and Robert form the backbone of De Notaris Vertalingen • DNV Translations. Nicole works as Senior Editor and Robert works as Senior Translator.More Less |
