In my final year I was awarded a First for my translation dissertation.
After my degree I spent ...two years teaching English in France. I taught English at the grande école Sciences Po in Nancy and prepared Masters students at the law faculty of Nancy 2 University for their International Cambridge Legal English Certificate. I then taught English to all ages at a private language school called Berlitz in Strasbourg and legal English to undergraduates at the University of Strasbourg.
After teaching I went on to work as a project assistant in the Culture and Heritage directorate at the Council of Europe, where I frequently undertook translation (French into English) and proof reading assignments.
In 2010 I returned to my home town of London, where I secured a job as Team Assistant at the Press Association. I worked on a various transcript and subtitling projects during my time there for clients such as Guinness World Records and the Fairtrade Foundation. I also worked as an external consultant on an extensive proof reading assignment for the Council of Europe.
I currently work as Personal Assistant to the CEO of a large French film company, where my remit includes regularly translating film reviews, finance reports, plot summaries and other ad hoc documents from French into English.
I am due to start a Masters in Translation at the University of Surrey in September 2013 where I will build upon my French and Spanish translation skills. As a student member of the IoL I intend to build new relationships with translators, translation companies and potential clients, attend all events and professional training seminars that I can and develop my expertise as a translator.More Less Message: Hi everyone!
