My mother tongue is Latvian. I have studied in the USA, got masters degree there (MBA).

I was born in the former USSR, and that means the Russian language played an important role in my life. It was quite extensively used in school and University, it was even more widely used at work and in everyday life, and my first publications also were in Russian. So, that's why I can translate from Russian as well as from English.

My first higher education was in Physics, I studied 5 years in Latvia University in Riga. Then I worked 10 years in Physics Institute of Latvian Academy of Sciences as a Researcher.

Then I got a chance to study 2 years in US - in the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Management. In 1993, I was awarded MBA degree, and returned to my country Latvia - which in the meantime had regained its freedom from the USSR.

Then I worked 10 years in the Bank of Latvia (Central bank of the country) as an Assistant to Vice-president and Quality Manager. After that I was a Marketing Project Manager in a private company.

Since 2008, I am a full time freelance translator. Quite a drastic change in career path, huh? But one sooner or later (with a little help from economic crisis) arrives at his true calling...
That does not mean though I have only a couple years long experience in translation, no - I have started translation jobs already since 1994 as a part-time occupation; and I have translated two books for the biggest Latvian publishing house "Zvaigzne ABC" (both are published - the traslation of American business guru S.R. Covey's, he is author of popular "7 Habits of Highly Effective People", next book "The 8th Habit", 400+ pages, and Ken Lawson's "Successful time management"), I have cooperated with many local and international agencies in different fields of translation: management, marketing, sociology, engineering (manuals, automotive, electronics), law (contracts, European Union documents: notifications, messages, regulations, etc.), medicine (clinical trials, cognitive debriefing), etc.

In my spare time I love to go g r e e n. I am avid bicycler and backpacker, have travelled many countries (most of Europe, Russia, Iran, Morocco, a bit of America).
