Sólo una idea. Me imagino que debe haber un término más específico o apropiado para nombrarlas pero me parece que esencialmente son las puntas del pelo que quedan sin rizar o con un rizado poco natural al usar un rizador de pelo de manera inapropiada.

Me baso en esta referencia:

"...It is really important to curl small amounts of hair at a time. One of the biggest mistakes is trying to wrap too much hair around the barrel of the curling iron. With small amounts of hair, it should take about 5 seconds to curl the section.

* Remove the curling iron from the curl and allow the curl to cool without touching. This will allow the curl to set. Move on to the next section of hair.

Según el Diccionario de cosmetología de Paraninfo, dice la definición así: Defecto en V (fishhook). Defecto en el rizado que hace que la punta del pelo se curve en dirección opuesta al resto del rizo.
