I'd leave it in Catalan (perhaps in italics, depending on type of text) and give a wee explanation or 'translate' it as a Catalan almost sweet (or cookie), eaten at All Saints, etc.

I just love the description here :-)) Especially the bit about 'every peasant household'!

# Comments: Panellets are rich almond cookies made in every peasant household in Catalonia for the eve of All Saints Day and eaten accompanied by roasted chestnuts and aged wine. Panellets are best a day or two after baking. They keep very well and are always made in quantities. The recipe given above makes enough to fill the cookie jar, but is only half what any peasant household would undertake at a time.

agree Andy Watkinson : An agree from a "peasant household" (Actually I buy them from the filthy rich peasant baker in the village :-)

thanks, Andy:-) long live the peasant bakers of Catalunya! ;-)))
agree Patrick Bones : Good stuff. Is it better to say 'almond' than 'marzipan'? I just realized that my household isn't near peasant enough.

panellets

I think the original name should be kept. This is a typical dessert from Catalonia

this could be as "paella": it is not exactly the same as "rice with shellfish"

you could add a bracketed explanation
