French term

pièces motrices = driving parts?

French to English Tech/Engineering Engineering: Industrial montage
Le contractant doit aligner et coupler toutes ses pièces motrices, y compris the motors.

...align and couple its driving parts, including the motors?

A fair few hits on google, but can anyone confirm or provide something more common?

Thanks.

driving elements

Well, I can't give you confirmation from personal experience, but that's a term I have encountered, and it gets an encouraging number of Ghits.

Seems to me it also fits well in your context with 'y compris les moteurs'

agree David Goward : I also think Amy's suggested translation is fine too.

Thanks, David! I agree, though I felt perhaps there was justification for getting away from the idea of 'SPARE parts'...
agree Adam Warren : Cheers!

moving parts

Peer comment(s):

disagree Adam Warren : This is more neutral, and renders "pièces tournantes" - Yes: "moving parts" are not necessarily driving, but can be driven.

are you sure you know what you are talking about?
disagree Tony M : I'm afraid I'm with Adam on this, it isn't SIMPLY parts that move, but parts that are involved in the actual driving process...

motor parts

"motrice" est synonyme de "moteur"

MOTIVE PARTS, not motor

Motive parts are involved in the mechanical movement or power of something, including the motor.

I think I'm right now.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Adam Warren : your phrase is commonly interpreted as "the parts that make up a motor"

motive parts (commonly known as 'drive-train' parts for automobiles)

I know the question is closed, but I have done some research on this. I am almost certain that this is the correct translation.

Drive train parts are all the parts of an automobile extending from the motor to the wheels involved in the the production/transmission of power.

Motive parts is general term for all the parts of a machine involved in the production and transmission of movement/power/work (you pick the correct the correct "physics" term LOL).
