English term

tired, fatigued, listless

English to Hindi Medical Medical (general)
I am translating a questionaire which has three different questions 'I am tired', 'I am fatigued' and 'I am listless'.

It defines that whereas rest may resolve feeling tired, fatigue may not be cured by rest.

I am giving hereinbelow the definitions of tired, fatigued and listless so as to give you an indepth idea of the concepts to arrive at the subtle difference between these terms:

Tired : depleted of strength or energy; "tired mothers with crying babies"; "too tired to eat"

Fatigued: exhausted: drained of energy or effectiveness; extremely tired; completely exhausted; "the day's shopping left her exhausted"; "he went to bed dog-tired"; "was fagged and sweaty"; "the trembling of his played out limbs"; "felt completely washed-out"; "only worn-out horses and cattle"; "you look worn out"

Listless: lacking zest or vivacity; "he was listless and bored"
# dispirited: marked by low spirits; showing no enthusiasm; "a dispirited and divided Party"; "reacted to the crisis with listless resignation"

In view of these definititions, you may consider using

Thaka huya, thakit, uchAt (in the sense of bored) for "tired"

ThakA-MAndA, KlAnt, Ashakt for "fatigued"

Nirjeev, NirutsAh, UdAseen, UtsAhheen, Behosh for "listless".

tired = थका हुआ...

tired = थका हुआ
fatigued = चूर-चूर हो जाता हूं/जाती हूं
listless = उदासीन, नीरस, उचाट

The kind of distinction between the three words tired, fatigued and listless, does not exist in Hindi. So you will have to enforce one of your own, and hope that the patient gets the meaning intended.

Try using sahayak kriyas, visheshans etc., to capture the meaning,
tired = थका हुआ
fatigued = बहुत थका हुआ, बहुत अधिक थका हुआ, थककर चूर, etc.
