English term

pressurized canister

English to Dutch Tech/Engineering Manufacturing hot tubs
"XYZ filtration system utilizes an advanced 50 square foot pressurized top load filter canister giving you the cleanest possible water."

The above term comes from a brochure destined for the Dutch-speaking market. It has been translated as "vacuümfilter onder druk," but I'd like to get some feedback as to whether this has been accurately expressed. TIA for your quick response. Cheers, R.

Is it a 50 sq.f. filter (area) in a pressurized cannister ('filterbehuizing onder druk') or should it actually be 50 pounds per square foot (pressure)? In the latter case (which makes more sense to me) this is ~24 mbar (http://www.sengpielaudio.com/Rechner-druckeinheiten.htm ) and the 'vacuümfilter' translation is NOT wrong (but delete the 'onder druk' which is a result of the erroneaous use of 'pressurized' in the source text)

'vacuümfilter onder druk' doesn't seem right to me...

Kluwer GPW renders canister as: kanaster, kleine metalen kan, stofketel, bus, filterbus. I could imagine the latter being appropriate in this context. But pressurized? No, that's exactly the opposite of vacuum.

erratum: But vacuüm? No, that's exactly the opposite of pressurized ;-)

In view of Harry's remarks, I think I'd check this out with the client.

Bedankt Henk. Ik vraag me ondertussen wel af of Harry misschien gelijk heeft met zijn interpretatie van de brontekst.
