This is from an appendix in an Administrative Specifications Sheet (Pliego de Cláusulas Administrativas Particulares) for the contracting of the construction and management of a hospital in Spain.
The title of the appendix is "Modelo de Certificado de Seguro de Caución". It is about the insurance policy required for the tender to be awarded to a bidder.
"La falta de pago de la prima, sea única, primera o siguientes, no dará derecho al asegurador a resolver el contrato, ni éste quedará extinguido, ni la cobertura del asegurador suspendida ni éste liberado de su obligación, ***caso de que el asegurador deba hacer efectiva la garantía***."
I don't understand the syntaxis of this clause, though the rest of the sentence I'm OK with.

Hi,
You've probably just translated a clause about an "aval" (i.e. collateral, bank guarantee, etc....). The bidder needs this in order to make the bid in the first place.
This guarantee is then itself guaranteed by a "seguro de caución" a surety or performance bond.
i.e. the party making the tender is doubly covered if the contractor doesn't deliver.
You might find the sentence easier to understand if you put the problematic phrase at the beginning.
i.e. if Insurer has to cough up, the mere fact that the premiums haven't been paid...etc...doesn't terminate the contract in any way..the cover remains in place.etc...
