Joy Gehner Jun 13, 2006:
Sure, those are all options, but are different things... Is this a current menu and can you find out how the thing is actually prepared? If not, I guess you just go with what sounds most appetizing... or take David's option which skirts the issue nicely!
PB Trans (asker) Jun 13, 2006:
Question Can I say "baked" for "saisie", i.e. "baked brie delight". There are a lot of google hits for baked brie with apples. Does anyone know if this is the same dish? It's also an appetizer. Other options, "seared", "pan-seared", "sauteed"....

agree Jeffrey Lewis : Would you call 'saisie' sautéed?

thanks Jeffrey, "sautéed" might work but I'm honestly not sure
agree Ingeborg Gowans (X) : I had this once as an appetizer, but if you are not sure go with "Brie delight" it keeps the mystery and sounds appetizing

thanks Ingeborg :)
agree Cervin : & with what Ingeborg says. Maybe 'Seared brie delight'?

thanks Cervin :)
agree Tony M : I would avoid 'sautéed' because of the different meaning in France, which certainly would NOT apply to Brie! 'pan-seared' is safer / I had something just like this yesterday -- delish!

tasty brie titbit

Saisie is about the fact that this is finger-food, or a buffet snack, not about the preparation method.
Example sentence:

Il a parlé avec difficulté, sa bouche étant pleine de délice de saisie de brie.

Peer comment(s):

neutral Tony M : I agree with your basic idea of a nibble, but I think 'titbit' is possibly not an appropriate register for a menu
