More credence is given to the idea that God sometimes chooses not to heal, that suffering is part of the divine economy, and more reflection on these and other issues has led to a more realistic and sensitive theology of healing, including a more nuanced view of 'healing in the atonement'. Warrington also points out that the ministry of a healing evangelist has largely given way to that of a corporate healing ministry in the church. This too is expressed in the recent ecumenical consultations where the church is seen as a ***'community in healing'***.

I agree that grammatically this is a strange construction and there are a number of interpretations which could be placed upon it (e.g. that the church is a community which is itself being healed). However, I think the writer is simply saying that the church is a community as far as matters of healing are concerned - it is reinforcing the previous sentence which describes how the focus of healing has shifted away from the charasmatic individual to the church as a corporate body. I don't think "community in healing" is really a phrase in itself - I think I read the sentence instead as (the church is seen as a community) (in healing), with "in healing" meaning "with regard to matters of healing".

a gathering of fellow believers who...
... build each other up in Christ when inevitably each one of us is confronted by our own shortcomings (read: "sinfulness"). It's often referred to, Ana, as "bearing each other's cross." This is a key component to the Protestant congregations I've been in so far, the idea that we do not have a "lone ranger" type of faith, but rather that we "do life together."

This is how I understand this:
The fact that healing has become more of a corporate ministry has also been expressed in recent ecumenical consultations, where the church is seen as a “community in healing”.
The key to the interpretation of the phrase is “ecumenical consultations”: the various Christian denominations are conducting a dialogue, they are drawing together, they understand that “what we hold in common is much greater than that which divides us”, and the (universal) Church is gradually being healed.
My interpretation of “community in healing” here is that the (universal) Church itself is in the process of being healed, as a community.
