I'm not clear on what "restauracion" means in this sense (occupying floor space at malls). Here's the full sentence:
"La restauración, en forma de franquicias, continua teniendo un peso importante en las superficies comerciales, ocupando el 35% de la SBA total en 2005. Las cadenas de restauración contemplan la apertura de locales en centros comerciales como una de sus principales vías de expansión."
