agree claudia16 (X) : In English there is a specific name for the young of almost every animal, they even have different names for groups of birds flying for each type of bird, so its better to be specific

Thanks, Robert.
neutral Will Matter : Technically, this is correct but since English does have a word that specifically means 'pigeon chick' (squab) it's probably best to use that. If you order this in a restaurant the bird involved is most definitely a pigeon and no other bird.

I see your point, and sure there is more than one great suggestion. About ordering this in a restaurant, well, I hope they leave the nest out of the dish ;p)
agree Ashok Pipal : "chicks" sounds more appropriate to go with eggs (eggs or chicks).

Thanks, Ashok.
neutral David Brown : if ordering in a restaurant, I would think it would be called "young pigeon" as calling it a "squab" or "chick" might be off-putting

If I had to order this in a restaurant, I wouln't even know what to call it, hence my chuckle. But since they're referring to live birds in the wild, not dead and served ones, there should be no mistake in using the word chick or even squab here.

Así se llaman los pichones de paloma.
Btw, encontré este glosario castellano-inglés que parece bastante interesante, no?

agree Janet Ross Snyder : This sounds the most natural to me. I don't think that the specific term, squab, is necessary here.
