Latin term

D.na

Latin to English Other Religion Papal Decree
It precedes the name of the petitioner. I suppose that 'D.' might be for 'de' or 'Dominus', but the context reveals very little.

Discussion

Joseph Brazauskas (asker) Jul 29, 2007:
Re: D.na The petitioner's name is Mary. You are therefore doubtless correct. I thank the both of you heartily for your help.
Jim Tucker (X) Jul 29, 2007:
Yes, has to be "Domina"
Peter Shortall Jul 29, 2007:
We had "D.no" in an earlier question for Domino, so could this be Domina - what's the name of the petitioner? Either way, I think it may well be all one word otherwise the "na" would have a capital N.
