Spanish term

Correa de transmision (figurative meaning)

Spanish to English Science Environment & Ecology
I found this expression in a text on combating climate change in industry. Here's the context:

"El objetivo es que la propia actividad de negocio de toa compania actue tambien como **correa de transmision** y propicie un mejor comportamiento medioambiental de terceros."

Thanks!

driving force

I don't see it as communication, but "correa de transmisión" as a drive belt, i.e., driving force.

Something like: "...act as a driving force to encourage/promote more environmentally-friendly behavior...."

This is the way I understand it in this particular context. Each company channels the information to others.

chain drive

I think a term with "drive" or "motive power" in would convey that the company is the motive power for improvements in other companies.

"Chain drive is a way of transmitting mechanical power from one place to another. It is often used to convey power to the wheels of a vehicle, particularly bicycles and motorcycles. It is also used in a wide variety of machines besides vehicles."

another alternative is "drive belt" which is also a method of transferring motive power but using a belt instead of a chain.
