German term

Bundessozialhilfegesetz (BSHG)

Non-PRO German to English Law/Patents
In a primitive attempt to translate this, I come up with "Federal Social Welfare Act"

How close am I?

Federal Social Assistance Act (Bundessozialhilfegesetz)

so there doesn\'t seem to any single way of expressing it. You\'ll have to pick

The (Federal/German) Social Assistance Act gets the most hits on google.

agree Elvira Stoianov : I think German is essential here

agree writeaway : if I had read yours more carefully, I wouldn't have bothered to add the exact same terms.....

agree Johannes Gleim : Federal Law for Welfare Benefits as Schäfer defines Sozialhilfe = supplementary welfare benefits

agree Steffen Walter : As a "Gesetz", it'd be an *act* not a *law* -> prefer (German) Federal Social Assistance Act. I'd however keep original name and abbreviation in the translation and add the English name in brackets (in order to provide the reader with original references)

Federal (German) Social Security Act

Dietl gives \"Federal Social Security Act\", but I think it depends upon your target audience (i.e. US or British English speakers) as to whether you use \"assistance\", \"welfare\" or \"security\" in this context. As a British English speaker, my instinct is to use \"security\".
