My example is not simply about buying and selling ordinary shares of companies, but investments in mutual funds. I take it to cover investments in general. For the metaphore used, I don't think it matters.

Volgens mij is de metafoor perfect: CHURN is karnen, gewoon melk als vloeistof, een verzameling ononderscheidelijke deelstjes verwerken / uitpersen. Dat willen ze niet doen met een grote partij "onpersoonlijk" in een portefeuille verzamelde bedrijven, maar ze willen de aandelen juist op bedrijfsniveau waarderen en evalueren.

: karnen is ongetwijfeld goed, maar ik ken churning in de businesscontext vooral als (klant-/personeels-)verloop. zal ook wel iets met een karnton te maken hebben, al zie ik die metafoor niet zo een twee drie...
