De zijkanten van deze hood zijn vast, de voorkant is van lamellen voorzien.
Is hier een speciaal woord voor of zijn dit "vertical blinds?" Ze zijn eigenlijk juist niet "blinds" maar transparant....

Dit is de vertaling als je lamellen-luchtfilter leest ipm lamellen.
De meeste plaatjes van LAF kasten die bovengegoocheld kunnen worden hebben helemaal geen afsluiting aan de voorkant. De laminare luchtstroom is sterk genoeg om te voorkomen dat ongefilterde lucht bij de spullen in de kast kan komen.
Het voordeel & nut van een stel (zachte, buigzaame, flexibele, doorschijnende?) lamellen aan de voorkant lijkt me dat er geen verstorende luchtstroom van buiten in de kast kan komen (wanneer iemand plots de deur of het raam open zet), maar wellicht ook dat je kunt werken zonder dat de lucht over de (biologische, mogelijk biohazard) monsters in je gezicht blaast.
Het komt dus wellicht het meest in de buurt van een luchtfilter, dat sterke luchtstromen moet tegenhouden.

Tja, als het om een kabinet gaat, kan het een opstelling voor staand werk zijn, met de werktafel voor je, en de lamellen (dus meer dan 2 meter lang) achter je hangend. Dan kom je wellicht bij louvres uit.

If this is what it is, the term 'entrance curtain' is also used (although most of the hits for this that I see are in patent texts for wave-soldering machines).
