Spanish term

coalición de servidores públicos

Spanish to English Law/Patents Law (general) Mexico
Mexican text ref. a corrupt politician. I feel like there must be a better equivalent in English than the literal translation, but I haven’t been able to come up with it. Any suggestions?

Violó el reglamento de la ley y presuntamente cometió “conductas delictuosas tales como **coalición de servidores públicos,** uso indebido de atribuciones y facultades, ejercicio abusivo de funciones y cohecho.”

Discussion

Henry Hinds Jun 2, 2008:
I have called it "collusion among public servants" which is what it consists of; however, such conduct would probably be included under different names in English.
Heather Oland (asker) Jun 2, 2008:
Thanks for the suggestions so far. As Henry says, it is definitely referring to a crime and I'm looking for what that crime might be called in English.

agree teju : Becerra's dictionary offers three possibilities for coalición: collusion, conspiracy and connivance. Good call Henry!

Gracias, Teju. I have Becerra right here, I did not check but all three of those look good to me.

We do use "public servants" in English but we also use public or government employees. Consider moving away from the literal expression.
Note from asker:
Excellent alternatives to "public servant." Thanks very much for your response!
